Bring the dog?
We are happy for you to bring your well-behaved dog with you, providing it has had recent flea treatment such as Frontline. Or, if you prefer, arrangements can be made with the nearby Milnthorpe Kennels and Cattery where you can board your dog overnight.
Culdene is a refurbished one bedroom self-contained, self catering ground floor apartment in Warton between the historical city of Lancaster and Kendal.
The apartment has an open plan living room with ample seating and a separate dining area. It is centrally heated throughout and there is also an electric fire in the living room.
The fitted kitchen is well equipped with a cooker, microwave, washer and tumble drier. There is a good selection of cutlery and utensils.
The fitted bedroom has a super-king 6ft wide bed or two 3ft singles. The bathroom has a separate shower.
There are empty shelves at the back door for muddy shoes and boots, etc and an over-door hanger will take wet walking clothes.
We are at the foot of Warton Crag in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
You can walk through our organically run smallholding, up the crag and onwards to Leighton Moss Bird Reserve and we are central for visiting the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Trough of Bowland and the lesser known picturesque villages around Morecambe Bay.
Warton has a good selection of pubs serving meals within easy walking distance.

Nearby Morecambe, complete with The Eric Morecambe memorial, has some fascinating Nursery Rhyme pavements, well worth a look.
Carnforth, with it's station clock made famous in the classic film 'Brief Encounter', is just two miles away and there you will find cafes, inns, takeaways, supermarkets and even a large bookshop for browsing or buying.
Warton and Carnforth were bypassed with the building of the M6 motorway, which now allows us to be easily accessible yet off the beaten track.
We are central for visiting the Lakes to the north, Yorkshire Dales to the east, and Forest of Bowland going south.
The quieter hidden pretty villages and coves surrounding Morecambe Bay are all close at hand. You have panoramic views by going halfway up our field. You can continue to the top and over a steep stile to Crag Road and then on to Warton Crag which is designated an area of natural outstanding beauty. Part of Warton Crag is now owned by the RSPB whose centre at Leighton Moss is about 3 miles away.

Culdene was first a coach house for Kiln Croft and built about 1908 then later turned into a garage and work shop. While we were running Kiln Croft we turned it into two self contained apartments. Culdene itself for my parents and Kiln View for our newly married daughter.
Time moves on and we decided to retire from Kiln Croft, which we ran as a guest house, and sell it off. My parents died and daughter had to move for job so we decided to live in Kiln View and keep Culdene as a holiday home.
This is the tenth year of running the holiday home, and after the first year of 2007 we have not altered our rates which are £300 for a week and £45 (minimum 2 nights) a night. We are open all year and our rates do not change even in high season.
So far we have been very lucky to have a regular clientele.
